  About Peter

My history begins in February 1961. For most of my life I have lived in Point Grey and the University Endowment Lands, a fact I consider an honour and a privilege. This is truly a unique experience in land. I have visited over 30 countries and nowhere on earth compares to the point of Point Grey; spectacular homes, dense forests, open clean beaches, a world class university (and the 2010 Olympic site), the amazing Museum of Anthropology, the Chan Centre and breathtaking views of the Georgia Strait, English Bay, Howe Sound and all the North Shore mountains and beyond.

The Point Grey area is very much my home. I was schooled at University Hill Elementary and Secondary Schools. I attended the University of British Columbia several times; in the 80’s I was in Arts and then in 2000 returned for my real estate license. In 2005 I completed the real estate agents course through the Sauder School of Business which now allows me to own and run a real estate company. During the 1980’s I also received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland. Through the late 1980’s and into the 1990’s I worked with the Four Seasons Group of Hotels and Resorts as well as Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts. With this last company I held management positions in Canada, Japan, Vanuatu, New Zealand, and Australia over an almost 10 year period and returned home in 1994 to stay.

My family’s history with Point Grey is as solid as my commitment to the area. My father, Guy Dutton, was a professor of chemistry at the University of British Columbia for almost 50 years, my mother Marise Dutton, was recognized for 33 years of volunteerism at the Museum of Anthropology and my twin brother, Robin Dutton, was just completed 29 years of service in the  UBC's Library Processing Centre, an awesome feat knowing Robin’s whole story. Each year now Robin and I give a deserving Uhill graduate a $1,000 award called The Robin Dutton Community Spirit Award.

Outside of work I am an "on call" advisor for the Vancouver Aquarium after helping raise over $1,000,000 through their single largest annual fundraising event, a 400 person sit down dinner called Salmonchanted Evening held every September. I sat on the board for 5 years and enjoyed the experience a great deal. I also volunteer for a program called “Out of the Cold”. Every Wednesday night a group of us meet at Point Grey’s United Church and throughout the winter months we serve a delicious, warm, four course meal to those less fortunate. I coordinate the dishpit, into my 7th year and am always looking for volunteers !!

Personally, I am an active member of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club as my family are avid sailors and I also play a good “B” level game of tennis at the Vancouver Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club. I love dogs and share my love with two of them, a Golden Retriever, Theodore or Teddie and a Black Labrador, Franklin or Frankie. I enjoy trips up the coast to Blind Bay as a group of us bought a place called Hummingbird Island in March 2007. I love keeping in touch with old friends, helping organize my 30th high school reunion last year plus finding Camp Deka Boys for May Brown's Camp Deka Reunion held last year. But also keeping up with past university friends, friends from Pan Pacific and Four Seasons plus friends from overseas.

But when not playing my passion is real estate. People and houses. Finding the right fit for buyers and sellers alike. So if you are looking for an honest, smart and energetic realtor please allow me to help realizel your real estate dreams. Send me an email or call me, as I would be happy to help you find your next home. Thank you again for exploring www.universityrealestate.ca
